Satya Sai condition worsens
Bhagwan Satya Sai Baba of Puttaparthy is critically ill. Doctors attending on the Baba at Sri Satya Sai Institute of Higher Medical Sciences at Puttaparthi said his health condition turned alarming by Monday evening.
According to the medical bulletin issued by Dr A N Safaya, director of Sri Satya Sai Institute of Higher Medical Sciences at Puttaparthi in the evening, Baba’s vital systems are not adequately responding to the treatment. The condition of Baba is critical.
Though the bulletin issued earlier in the day said he was showing signs of improvement, the situation worsened since afternoon, the doctors attending on him said.  “Bhagwan Satya Saibaba continues to be on ventilator support for helping his respiration and suction of the secretions from the lungs. He continues to be on Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT) system to help the functioning of the kidneys,” Dr Safaya said in the bulletin. He said the panel of doctors treating him was doing their best to make the system to respond.
The 85-year old Baba was admitted to the hospital following lung and chest congestion on March 28.

CC Machine @ Ravi Teja's UGR
Ravi Teja is fondly known as Mass Maharaja. But now, he seems to be getting another title ‘Cash Maharaja’. Well, given the long list of lined up films and the high remuneration that Ravi quotes, one can imagine the kind of money which is flowing into his home. So, here is an interesting tidbit about the crazy star.

It seems that Ravi Teja has got an underground room in his residence and this has got a currency counting machine. With the kind of black money he is getting, the machine is compulsory. Knowing about this, the IT officials raided the residence. With young heroes like Ramcharan etc doing only one film per year and some of them getting cancelled in between, Ravi Teja’s flurry of films is increasing the weight in the underground room.

All these were revealed as a result of a discussion which took place at the Filmnagar Club. A producer who has suffered severe losses and a low level director were having their regular drinking sessions and were blurting out such information. Strange but these are the types of discussions happening in drinks sessions.

Another star son is making his debut in films. Aadi son of dialogue king Sai Kumar is the hero in the film Prema Kavali. Let us see how far this young son of Sai kumar has managed to impress on his debut.
 Story:

This is a pure teenage love story with some action. Srinu (Aadi) is a young and loving boy. He studies in college. His classmate happens to be Prema (Isha Chawla). They are good friends but without their knowledge they also fall in love with one another. However they do not express it but keep it to themselves.
One day Srinu before laving for a college camp kisses Prema. Nothing wrong but the problem is that this scene is caught on camera by Shafi.
Shafi then uses this photo to blackmail Prema. Prema’s father Nazar is a jail superintendent. While Shafi continues to blackmail Prema for money he also manages to threaten her get the E-mail password of her father.
Prema’s sister-in-law Sindhu Tolani who is in the know how of all this informs this to Srinu as soon as he comes back to Hyderabad after his camp in Himachal Pradesh. However to his horror Srinu learns that Shafi had done enough damage even before he could ascertain his identity.
There is a twist in the story. Shafi has links with villain Dev Gill. There is a dreaded international terrorist lodged in the Chanchalaguda jail and Dev Gill is on a mission to get him out and flee the country.

Will Dev Gill succeed? What will the hero do now to save his love interest and also her father from Dev Gill? All this forms the basis for the remaining part of the story.

Performance:
Aadi has shown good promise for a debutante. He has done a lot of homework in all th departments from acting to fights, dances and dialogue delivery. So he comes out with an above average performance. Coming to dialogues, being the son of Sai Kumar it is only natural that he does a good job.
Isha Chawla is cute. She also has enough charm and oomph to make a mark in Telugu. She also sizzles in the wet song filmed on her and the hero. Nazar is his usual self while Sindu Tolani is just okay. Shafi gets a lengthy role and he makes an impact.
Brahmanandam as Serlilingam evokes some laughter along with Geeta Singh. Ali and MS Narayana too do a decent job.
 Analysis:
Prema Kavali may seem like yet another typical love story but senior director Vijay Bhaskar has managed to script an interesting story and also manages to come up with decent fare. The film is a good platform for the debutante hero. The music by Anup Rubens is decent and the editing and cinematography are also good.
The production values are above average. The film Prema Kavali runs in a fast paced manner in the first half. The director manages to keep suspense with his tow flashback incidents. The second half is a bit lengthy but the comedy relieves the proceedings to a large extent. The climax is not exactly good but then the director has his own compulsion, which is to elevate the character of the hero.
 Verdict:
Prema Kavali is a decent film with no big surprises or twists. The film is essentially meant as a launch ad for Aadi and director Vijay Bhaskar has succeeded in his task. Prema Kavali is a average entertainer. It is now up to the young college going audience to decide the fate of the film at the box office.

Allari Naresh comes up with yet another comic entertainer. Let us see how far he and Brahmanandam have managed to tickle the funny bone of the audiences.

Story:

Subrahmanyam (Allari Naresh) works in a software company. His boss is Balraj (Brahmanandam) a 40 plus guy who is looking for a suitable girl to get married.

Subbu has a friend Malathi and they are going steady. One day Balraj gives a party and in the pub Subbu gets punch drunk and passes out. When he wakes up next morning he finds a girl Sanjana (Ritu Barmecha) besides him on the bed with very little clothes on.

Subbu thinks that he might have done something that night and Sanjana also thinks the same. Now Sanjana's three brothers, Sri Hari and two others literally force Subbu to marry their sister.

They even threaten him and taken him by force to the meet their father JJ (Nagineedu) a dreaded factionist in Warangal.

JJ likes Subbu and arranges for the marriage of his daughter with him. Subbu is dead against the idea of marrying Sanjana.

The three brothers then take the help of a love specialist in order to make Subbu falls in love with their sister and forget his girlfriend Madhu.

After several turns and twists Subbu realizes that Madhu has cheated him. He then understands what a nice girls Sajana is and how her lovable and innocent brothers have done all this as no one will agree to marry the sister of factionists.

Performance:

Allari Naresh has done a rather subdued role in the film. There is not much slapstick comedy that we are used to. He however does a good job and carries the film fairly well. Sri Hari is the next actor who has a big role and he does justice to it.

Nagineedu gets to play another role similar to what he did in Maryada Ramanna. He is okay. The new girl Ritu Barmecha is plain looking and more like a girl next door. She however looks hit in skimpy costumes.

Brahmanadam plays a full length role but his comedy is just routine. MS Narayana, Ahuthi Prasad, AVS. Jayaprakash Reddy and others have minor roles.

Analysis:

Aha Naa Pellantan takes the title of the all time super hit film of Jandhyala. However this film, a remake of the Hindi film Welcome is no where near the original.

The new version is okay as a comic caper but does not have much by way of story. The emotional bondings are also not shown in the right way.

The music is Raghu Kunche is average and the re-recording by Koti is also just okay. The film has nothing much to boast off and is infact a remix of several old films.

Verdict:

Aha Naa Pellanta is a rather slow moving film that does not have enough original comedy to make the audiences laugh. The director tries to evoke laugher with some misunderstandings and mix-ups. The film is okay in the first half but gets a little boring in the second half. This is not among the best of Allari Naresh's films. Strictly speaking the film is just average.

Jagapathi Babu has portrayed the role of a cop in several films. He comes up once again with a cop role. Let us see how he fares in this new film Chattam.

Story:

Jagapathi Babu is a inspector in Punjagutta police station. He along with his subordinate constable Jeeva resorts to unlawful activities like settlements and collections.

Jagapathi Babu is a corrupt and careless inspector whose only aim is to extort as much money as possible from offenders and criminals and then hit the bottle at night.

When two students of the same college throw acid on two fellow girl students for not accepting their love, Jagapathi Babu just registers a case but does not do much to bring the guilty to book.

Similar is the case when baby Vaishnavi is kidnapped and brutally killed by throwing her into a furnace. A honest citizen Rao Ramesh is shown seething with anger. The two acid attackers as well as the kidnappers of Vaishnavi are killed brutally by some unidentified person.

A CBI enquiry is ordered and Mukul Sharma comes from Delhi to investigate the case. When he starts investigating the case a starling fact comes to light. The killer is identified. It is none other than inspector Jagapathi Babu.

Just when Mukul Sharma gets ready to arrest Jagapathi Babu he runs away to Mumbai. What is the need for Jagapathi Babu to go to Mumbai. Why does he get arrested deliberately and go to jail?

The reason why Jagapathi Babu gets himself arrested is to kill Hasab (Kasab) the lone surviving terrorist in the Mumbai terror attack case. Can Jagapathi accomplish his mission and kill Hasab who is lodged in high security bombproof cell?

The rest of the story is how Jagapathi Babu goes about his job.

Performance:

Jagapathi Babu fits the role of a cop perfectly. He has done it several times before so there is nothing new or challenging for him in this film. Jagapathi Babu tries to evoke laughter but the comedy falls flat.

Vimala Raman plays the role of Jeeva's daughter who runs a gym. She appears in a couple of dream songs and a couple of scenes with Jagapathi Babu. That's it. There is nothing much for her to do in the film. Vimala exposes a lot and manages to get some cats calls from the frontbenchers. Rao Ramesh has got a very small role but he manages to impress.

Jeeva is okay as a constable. Mukul Sharma does a good job as a CBI officer. Ashish Vidyarthi plays inspector Hemant Karkare who was killed by the terrorists. Chalapathi Rao plays as a police commissioner.

Erasu Prathap Reddy appears in a guest role as the Home Minister of Maharashtra.

Analysis:

The film gets off to a slow start. While the first half is just light hearted with nothing much happening the second half is heavy. There is very little by way of entertainment. The flash back love story of Jagapathi Babu and Geetha Singh is pretty ordinarily with Jagapathi Babu and his friends wearing strange looking wigs and sporting bright floral pattern shirts. The production values are okay.

The director tries to infuse some patriotism in the audience with the subject of terror attack in Mumbai and the way Kasab is being treated by the government. The film ends with Jagapathi Babu giving a brief speech on the country's judicial system and its loopholes.

Verdict:

Chattam is the film gets off to a slow start. While the first half is just light hearted with nothing much happening the second half is heavy. The film is neither a routine entertainer nor is it a serious crime story. The director tries to make a mix and match but fails completely. The film has very little content to appeal to the average film buff. Even Vimala Raman's sexy show fails to lift the mood of the audiences.

Average The fans of Jr. NTR waited patiently for a long time for Shakti to hit the screens. The film directed by Mehar Ramesh did not generate a very positive pre-release response. Let us see if the move has what the fans of NTR want to see. Story: Aishwarya (Ileana) is the daughter of union home minister Prabhu. Aishwarya is guarded closely by Prabhu as she faces threat from some unknown enemies. However Aishwarya has this habit of giving a slip to his father and also the security personnel and go outwith her friedns. Aishwarya sets out from home secretly with her friends and she first lands up in Jaipur. There she meets a guide Shakti. He accompanies her and her gang and there is some mild teasing between the hero and the heroine. When Aishwarya is attacked time and again it is repulsed by Shakti. However, one day when they are in Kashmir a big attack takes place on Ileana. Some guys from Egypt are eager to trace her out and capture her. Who are they and why do they want to capture Aishwarya? Shakti takes on the attackers and goes out full blast with machine guns and artillery. He is not a tourist guide as made out to be but a NSG Commando in a under cover operation to protect Aishwarya. This is the interval bang. After this, we learn that there is a flashback to NTR. His father Rudra is the protector of the Mahashakthi Peetham. He dies while trying to protect the petham from attack from Sonu Sood who has come all the way from Egypt to grab the 'Jwalamukhi' as well as Rudrasoolam and destroy the 18 shakti peethams. However he dies in the hands of Rudra, but Rudra himself is killed when Jackie Shroff a diwan in the family of Mahadeva stabs him from behind for money given by Sonu Sood. Rudra's wife gives birth to a son and he is none other than the present day Shakti. Aishwarya's father Prabhu wants to perform a yaganm on the special 'Maha Sukra Grahanam' day but he cannot find the Jwalamukhi. It falls into the handbag of Aishwarya accidentally and then it reaches the hands of Shakti. Prabhu wants to buy the Rudrasoolam that has been taken away by Jackie Shroff. Prabhu is ready to pay any amount by Jacki shroff sells it to Behara (Pooj Bedi) wife of Sonu Sood for a bigger amount. As the Maha Sukra Grahanam time arrives Prabhu along with the Swami and Aishwarya go to the place of the Mahashakti peetham to perform the puja. Behara arrives with her son Rakha, Rakha is the eldest son of Sonu Sood. Behara has trained him so that he can revenge of his father death. Behara also implants the eyes of Sonu Sood so that he can see the destruction. How Shakti foils the evil designs of the evil Behara and sons is the remaining part of the story. Performance: NTR is as expected the heart and soul of the film. NTR brings in the required energy and intensity to his role. NTR is good as Shakti. However, he is not that effective in his role as Rudra. His dances and fights as usual bring in cheer and applause from his fans. Ileana is as usual in her glamour role. She is seen mostly in the first half only. She has very little role in the second half. Jackie Shroff gets a lot of build up but he does not exactly rise up to the build up. He however is cool and suave quite different from the run of the mill villains. Prabhu is okay. Sonu Sood is there for just 10 minutes. Pooja Bedi fits the bill as Sonu Sood's wife. Nazar as the swami is almost unrecognizable. Brahmanandam appears in a two-minute role. Ali evokes some laughter. Venu Madav, Krishna Bhagawan and others add their bit. Balasubrahmanyam and Manju Bhargavi appear in the flashback episode. Analysis: Shakti begins on a entertaining note with the comic scenes between NTR and Ileana and her friends. The story however does not move much. The interval bang when NTR's real identity is revealed raises the expectations of the audeince. However, director Mehar Ramesh flaters in the second half. The flashback episode is supposed to be the highlight of the film. While it is okay, it does not exactly set the screen on fire. The screenplay is not smooth and the story fails to excite you as much as it was intended. The songs are nice and NTR dances well. The fights are routine and production values are of high standard. The director seems to have relied heavily on religious aspect to deliver the goods. He seems to have forgotten the entertainment aspect. The film entertains in the first half but the second half runs serious fashion. Verdict: Shakti is a big budget film but director Mehar Ramesh has not got it right fully. The film is also a bit too long may be 20 to 25 minutes longer than necessary. Shakti is a standard Jr. NTR film but it is not a great film. You can watch it when you have free time.
